Girls Are Not Smiling!! 20-year-old Girl Stabs Lover Boy To Death In Imo State

Tragedy struck yesterday at Ubomiri
community in Mbaitoli Local
Government Area of Imo State when a
20-year-old girl allegedly stabbed her
undergraduate lover to death with a
kitchen knife in their house.
The suspect, Chisom Anyanwu who is a
student of Akwakuama Girls Secondary
School, Owerri had allegedly killed his
lover, who visited her following an
argument.
The deceased, simply identified as Apo,
aged 28, an undergraduate and a native
of Egbeada also in Mbaitoli council area
had paid an unscheduled visit to his
girlfriend at their family house at about
noon yesterday.
However, it was learnt that trouble
started between the two lovers when
the suspect who was cooking, did not
take kindly to the deceased’s
unscheduled visit to her family house.
She asked him to leave immediately as
she would not want her elder brothers
and sisters to see him.
But the deceased allegedly refused to
leave and in the altercation that ensued
between the two lovers, Chisom
allegedly grabbed the kitchen knife and
stabbed Apo on the chest.
The deceased, who was said to be the
only son of his parents, according to an
eyewitness, was rushed to the Christian
Medical Centre, Nworieubi in the area
where he eventually died.
However, angry youths of Egbeada com­
munity, on hearing of the death of their
kinsman, stormed the family house of
the suspect and allegedly set it ablaze.
The state police command’s spokesman,
Mr. Andrew Enwerem (DSP), said the
suspect is in their custody, while
investigation on the matter has
commenced.

28 Children Die Of Lead Poisoning In Niger State

The Federal Government has confirmed
the death of 28 children following a
fresh outbreak of lead poisoning in
Niger state.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that
the latest incident had brought the
number of deaths from lead poisoning
in the country to 191, including 139
children.
A total of 420 cases were recorded in
Zamfara and Niger states, respectively.
Briefing newsmen on the latest
development in Abuja, the Minister of
State for Health, Mr Fidelis Nwankwo,
said that 68 fresh cases of the lead
poisoning were recorded in Kawo and
Magiro villages of Rafi local government
area of the state.
“Sixty eight cases have been recorded
as at May 12, 2015, and 28 deaths had
occurred giving the case of fertility rate
of 43 per cent,” said Nwankwo.
According to him, all the deceased were
children below the age of five and
comprised 17 females and 11 males.
He said the affected children were
found to have a high serum lead level
between 17 and 22 times higher than
the acceptable limits established by the
World Health Organisation.
The minister, however, said that the
federal government adopted an eight-
point strategy to tackle the situation
upon receipt of the report from the
Niger Government.
Nwankwo listed the measures to include
advocacy meetings with the affected
community leaders on the dangers of
economic activities involving mining.
“We have commenced non-specific,
palliative treatment of the sick children
in Kagara hospital.
“We also commenced the process of
incident command structure to enhance
coordination of the outbreak response.
“Mobilisation of health facilities in
Niger and Zamfara states to commence
chelation of clinically ill children in
collaboration with relevant
stakeholders.
NAN recalls that the last lead poisoning
case was recorded in Zamfara between
March and June 2010, which claimed
163 lives, including 111 children. The
incident recorded 355 cases

According to an eyewitness who sent the report to Pulse, the man identified as Pastor Effiong, had been secretly patronising the ladies of the night at a popular brothel located around the Watt area and had one of them as his regular customer.

The witness who was at the scene when the fracas happened, said:

“Trouble brewed for him when he went to the hotel with his bible on the pretext of preaching as he always does. But unfortunately for him, his regular woman was engaged with another man and instead of waiting for her, he went to another lady’s room and was busy enjoying himself when his regular woman came out and was told that the pastor had gone to another woman.I never knew that prostitutes could be jealous o. The lady went to her colleagues room and banged on the door, accusing the woman of snatching her man.

The one inside was not happy with the accusation and opened her door in anger and engaged the first one in a fight. Other prostitutes of hearing what happened, grouped and descended on the Pastor and beat him blue black.

It took the intervention of other patrons of the hotel to get him out of the clutches of the women who were busy insulting him, calling him unprintable names.

It was a show of shame indeed.

Arsenal are closing in on a deal for Raheem Sterling with a stunning Theo Walcott plus £20million swap transfer being talked up.

The Gunners are keen on landing £50million-rated Sterling this summer, and have been encouraged by talk that he won’t sign a new deal at Anfield.

And now reports say a move is on, with both Arsenal and Liverpool considering a swap that involves Walcott and £20million going to Anfield.

Walcott is also involved in a contract dispute with Arsenal, and has apparently become surplus to requirements.

He would be an ideal replacement for Sterling and Liverpool could invest in other areas with the spare cash.

The Eagles are now the eight-ranked African side behind Algeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Tunisia, Senegal, Cape Verde and Guinea.

Meanwhile Algeria remains at the summit of African football with 917 points which put them in the 20th position in the world while Cote d’Ivoire  are second in Africa and ranked 23rd in the world.
